This Data Privacy Statement provides you with comprehensive information about the processing of your personal data by Sundwiger Messingwerk GmbH, and the rights to which you are entitled.
Personal data are, in this respect, information that makes it possible to identify a natural person. This includes, in particular, name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, but also your IP address.

Your rights as a data subject
First of all, we would like to inform you at this point about your rights as a data subject. These rights are standardised in Art. 15 – 22 EU GDPR. These encompass:
- the right to access (Art. 15 EU GDPR),
- the right to erasure (Art. 17 EU GDPR),
- the right to rectification (Art. 16 EU GDPR),
- the right to data portability (Art. 20 EU GDPR),
- the right to restriction of data processing (Art. 18 EU GDPR),
- the right to object to data processing (Art. 21 EU GDPR).
To assert these rights, please contact: datenschutz@sundwiger-mw.com. The same shall apply if you have any queries relating to data processing at our company or wish to withdraw any consent you have given. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Rights to object
Please note the following in connection with rights to object:
- If we process your personal data for the purpose of direct advertising, you have the right to object to this data processing at any time without giving reasons. This also applies to profiling insofar as it relates to direct advertising.
- If you object to processing for direct advertising purposes, we shall no longer process your personal data for these purposes. Exercising your right to object is free of charge and can be done informally, preferably via email to:
datenschutz@sundwiger-mw.com.
- If we process your data in order to protect legitimate interests, you may object to this processing at any time for reasons relating to your particular situation; this also applies to any profiling based on these provisions.
- We shall then no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate that the reasons for the processing are compelling and legitimate and override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Purposes and legal bases of the data processing
When processing your personal data, the provisions of the EU GDPR and all other applicable provisions of data protection law shall be complied with. Legal bases for the data processing ensue, in particular, from Art. 6 EU GDPR.
We shall use your data in order to initiate a transaction, fulfil contractual and legal obligations, conduct the contractual relationship, offer products and services and strengthen the customer relationship, which may also include analyses for marketing purposes and direct advertising.
Your consent to the data processing may also constitute a permission requirement under data protection law. Before you give your consent, we shall inform you about the purpose of the data processing and about your right to withdraw consent.
Sharing with third parties
We shall share your data with third parties only within the scope of the statutory provisions or with the appropriate consent. Otherwise, your data shall not be shared with third parties unless we are obliged to do so under mandatory legal provisions (sharing with external bodies such as supervisory authorities or law enforcement authorities).
Recipients of the data / categories of recipients
Within our company, we shall ensure that your data are received only by those persons who need these data in order to comply with the contractual and legal obligations.
In certain cases, our specialised departments are supported by service providers in the performance of their tasks. The necessary data protection agreements have been concluded with all service providers, namely Strato AG (Internet service provider).
Duration of data storage
We shall store your data as long as this is necessary for the respective purpose of the processing. Please note that numerous retention periods require that data (must) continue to be stored. This particularly applies to retention obligations under commercial law or tax law (e.g. Handelsgesetzbuch [German Commercial Code], Abgabenordnung [German Fiscal Code], etc.). Insofar as no further retention obligations exist, the data shall be routinely deleted after their purpose has been fulfilled.
In addition, we may retain data if you have given us permission to do so, or if legal disputes arise and we use evidence within statutory limitation periods, which can be up to thirty years; the normal limitation period is three years.
Secure transfer of your data
In order to optimally protect the data stored with us against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons, we use appropriate technical and organisational security measures. The security levels are continually reviewed in cooperation with security experts and adapted to new security standards.
The exchange of data from and to our website always takes place in encrypted form. We offer HTTPS as the transmission protocol for our website, in each case using the current encryption protocols.
It is also possible to use alternative communication channels (e.g. a postal service).
Obligation to provide data
Various personal data are necessary for establishing, conducting and terminating the obligatory relationship and fulfilling the contractual and legal obligations in connection therewith. The same applies to use of our website and the various features it provides.
We have summarised the details for you in the above point. In certain cases, data must also be collected or made available on the basis of statutory provisions. Please note that it will not be possible to process your enquiry or conduct the underlying obligatory relationship if these data are not provided.
When you visit our website, we shall collect and process the following data:
- name of the Internet service provider
- information about the website from which you are visiting us
- web browser and operating system used
- the IP address assigned by your Internet service provider
- requested files, transferred data volume, downloads/file export
- information about the websites you visit, including date and time
For reasons of technical security, in particular for averting attempted attacks on our web server, these data are stored in accordance with Art. 6 (1) f) EU GDPR. After 7 days at the latest, the data are anonymised by shortening the IP address so that no link to the user is established.
Contact form / contact by email (Art. 6 (1) a), b) EU GDPR)
Our website contains a contact form that can be used to contact us electronically. If you write to us using the contact form, we shall process the data you provide in the contact form in order to contact you and answer your questions and requests.
In the context of a contact request, we collect and process the following data:
- name
- company name
- telephone number
- email address
- information within the message
In doing so, the principle of data economy and data avoidance is observed, as you only need to provide the data that we absolutely need for contacting you. In addition, your IP address will be processed for technical reasons and for legal protection. All other data are voluntary fields, and their provision is optional (e.g. for a more individual response to your questions).
In order to optimally protect your security and confidentiality, we use appropriate security measures. Your enquiry will be transmitted to us in encrypted form.
If you contact us by email, we shall process the personal data provided in the email solely for the purpose of handling your enquiry. If you do not use the available forms to contact us, no further data will be collected.
If the contact request is addressed to one of our subsidiaries in the USA (The Miller Company, 275 Pratt Street, CT 06450 Meriden, USA) or in China (Diehl Metall Shenzhen, 5F Block 25 Shatoujiao Free Trade Zone Shenzhen, 518081 China), the data may also be transferred to these countries (Art. 49 (1) b) GDPR).
Automated individual decision-making
We do not use purely automated processing operations to bring about a decision.
